Wildlife in Ernakulam Wildlife Sanctuary:

The Ernakulam Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for the Thettekkad Bird Sanctuary. One can get to see the beautiful birds as well as the mammals like the elephants, leopards, sloth bear and porcupine.

From the ruby-throated subspecies of the Black-crested Bulbul to the Grey Heron, the scientific names of the birds have been listed below:

Collocalia unicolor: Indian Swiftlet
Ocyceros griseus: Malabar Grey-Hornbill
Spizaetus cirrhatus: Changeable Hawk-Eagle
Anhinga melanogaster: Oriental Darter
Ardea cinerea: Grey Heron

Wildlife Tours in Ernakulam Wildlife Sanctuary:

There is a tower inside the sanctuary which has the amenities of accommodation inside. One can also stay in the Hornbill dormitory near the entrance of the sanctuary. One can also stay in the PWD house for accommodation. From the tower one can see the different varieties of birds.
