Introduction
Trivandrum or Thiruvananthapuram as it is officially known is an ancient city with a history that dates back to as early as 1000 B.C. Trivandrum is named as a homage to Lord Vishnu, who is regarded as the guardian of the city. The word Thiruvananthapuram literally means Thiru-anantha-puram, or, the city of Anantha or the abode of the sacred Serpent Anantha on which Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the Hindu trinity, reclines.
The city, holding on to its rich heritage is, however, making a rapid progress towards its future which is indicated by the presence of the massive number of educational and business institutes that the city is home to.
