      Cherai Beach

      Introduction

The Kerala beaches on the crystal waters of the Arabian Sea are little pieces of heaven on earth. The 10 km long Cherai beach one of the longest of Kerala beaches. The sapphire waters of the Arabian Sea and the swaying palms that dot the coastline here is just waiting to carry you off your feet with its mind numbing beauty. Still miraculously preserved in its pre natal innocence and serenity the Cherai Beach is one place you should never miss on your tours to the beaches in Kerala. Cherai is also famous as the only beach in Kerala where dolphins might be spotted.

The Arabian Sea on one side and the Vembanad backwaters on the other, the Cherai is affectionately and truly called the "Princess of the Arabian Sea".

Cherai Beach is in Cherai, a small coastal village in Ernakulam district. The Cherai Beach is part of the Vipyn Island. The Vipyn Island came into existence after the great flooding in 1341.
